2021.10.19 13:13 Mr_nobody288383 Pow camps

Pow camps are places where work is done by enemy troops.
How does this work. When a kingdom loses a battle agisnt a another kingdom the kingdom that won the battle agisnt the other one takes the enemy survivors ranging to troops and civilians Although rare for civilians to be sent to the pow camp it's common for troops to be sent to throw camps.
What do they do there. They do jobs like farming for the enemy kingdom too making weapons for the enemy.
Is it guarded and now many troops guard it.. yes and 5 troops and 1 military leader is needed to guard a pow camp.
Note thus name does not sound right as this might offend people the name should be changed.

2021.10.19 13:13 burneracct-2021 Am I "wrong" to still be angry the next day about my boyfriend punching a hole in a door of our rented house--less than 3months after moving in?

TL/DR: My boyfriend went on an angry rage in our room last night because he was angry at me for wanting to do a promised art activity with my child when my tired boyfriend wanted me to cuddle in bed with him. He punched the mattress, a pillow, and the bedroom door. It left damages to the door. I complained in a snide, angry way about it to my friends this morning. Am I the ahole to still be mad at him for this?
My boyfriend blew up in anger last night. He was tired, wanted to go to bed, wanted me to go to bed with him to cuddle. One of my kids had been waiting all day to do a fun family bonding art activity. My boyfriend was tired and felt it was too late. Late mostly because I got home late; currently carless, it takes 3-4 hrs to get from work to home by mass transit by myself. I said I'd do it because I hate breaking promises to a kid who's already traumatized by recent divorce and moving. I told boyfriend he is welcome to go to sleep, I'll meet him in bed in a bit. He did not like that idea. He said he needs time with me to cuddle. It led to him yelling, us arguing, and him going around punching things. He punched mostly soft unbreakable things like the mattress. Then punched a hole in our bedroom door.
I am livid because I am going to lose my security deposit or face possible eviction now. I'm the breadwinner and the only person who paid the exorbitant deposit to move here, multiple months rent upfront. Now this boyfriend scares my child with all his yelling and door punching. He's ruining my rental rapport.
I called my ex-husband/son's father to pick him up immediately because I did no feel my home was a supportive environment for my son with my boyfriend doing what he did. I have many strong feelings about this; that's a different, much more serious topic. I'm not glazing over that.
Before I called my ex, my boyfriend had already phoned his mom to complain and ask her to tell my son to wait until tomorrow to do the art activity. He called her before he punched the door. He punched the door while he was on the phone with her. He yelled over me when I tried to loudly remind him how I was late coming home because I can't get a car rental because he lost my wallet; something his mother was not previously aware of. (Maybe she thought I was carless because she thought I was broke? Nope try again)
This morning I am still angry and resentful about the broken door. To the point that I've texted a photo of the door to 2 friends with the caption "My boyfriend's recent 'artwork' 🙄😡". Does this make me an asshole to still be mad about this?

Hey guys! I was supposed to go to CV next month for my Master's at the University of Cape Verde; unfortunately I was miss informed, the Master's was in Portuguese and not in English. However, I am still planning to go there.Do you guys know any Universities that offer their programmes (both Bachelor's and Master's) in English? 2021.10.19 13:13 2112trader Investing News Morning Roundup – October 19, 2021

Investing News Morning Roundup – October 19, 2021
Stocks have faced a lot of headwinds since the end of the summer, with everything from inflation to supply chains woes plus higher prices seeming to weigh on stocks. But a funny thing has happened--the “selloff” in stocks was no more than several percentage points and despite many factors that might typically send stocks lower, indexes are within a percentage point of all-time highs. The cost of everything, especially input costs for producers, is higher with energy leading the cost hikes; not good news for the makers of everything we consume. The limited availability of so many items is also bad news for many producers. But investors still don’t seem to care and the “buy the dip” mentality is alive and well. So, the march higher goes on with stock markets posting the fourth day of gains yesterday.
Energy costs, along with stock indexes, continue to march higher. Brent crude crossed the $84 level and natural gas remains elevated. Europeans woke up to even worse news on the energy front. Russia told Europe it will get no additional natural gas this winter without Nordstream 2, the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany. Putin told these folks he would not use gas as a weapon but, as with anything from Putin, you can’t believe what he says and again that has been proven true. Europe does not have other options for natural gas, critics of depending on gas from Russia are shaking their heads this morning mouthing “I told you so…” Who needs gas? Let’s build windmills! Well, ask England how that’s working out.
Earnings season has started off strong, though with financials starting the reporting, the effect of inflation and higher input costs have yet to be fully on display. The coming days will give us more earnings reports of producers of stuff and with that, investors will get a better reading on costs.
Investors will get a reading on the housing market this morning with U.S. housing starts due at 8:30 a.m. ET. The sector is caught between strong demand driven by cheap money and supply constraints making it tough on builders to build or renovate. Just ask Zillow (see below).
Google Parent CEO Says US Government Needs More Active Role in Cyber Attacks, Encouraging Innovation
The CEO of Alphabet (GOOG), parent of tech giant Google, called for a more active role by the U.S. government regarding cyberattacks and fostering innovation. Sundar Pichai spoke at the WSJ Tech Live event and suggest the government draft the equivalent of a Geneva Convention for technology. In it, countries could lay out legal standards as the world becomes more interconnected. Mr. Pichai noted the increase in cyberattacks and the need for a framework to address them. “Governments on a multilateral basis…need to put it up higher on the agenda,” he said in an interview at the event “If not, you’re going to see more of it because countries would resort to those things.” He called for more focus on fostering innovation in the U.S., with both investments and policies. “Public-private partnerships here can be a good template,” Mr. Pichai said. “This is an area [where], you know, there’s bipartisan interest in making sure that we are thinking about it for the long term.”
Members of Congress Question Honestly of Testimony from Amazon Executives
Did executives from Amazon (AMZN) mislead members of Congress in their testimony during an investigation into the company’s business practices? That’s what a group of five members of Congress would like to know. These five members sent Amazon a request for “exculpatory evidence” corroborating the sworn testimony of several executives, including then-CEO Jeff Bezos. The request included the signatures of Reps. David Cicilline (D., R.I.), Ken Buck (R., Colo.), Pramila Jayapal (D., Wash.), Jerrold Nadler (D., N.Y.) and Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.). All are members of the subcommittee that investigated Amazon’s use of data from third-party sellers in designing items to compete against those same sellers. The members wrote to Amazon, “We strongly encourage you to make use of this opportunity to correct the record and provide the Committee with sworn, truthful, and accurate responses to this request as we consider whether a referral of this matter to the Department of Justice for criminal investigation is appropriate,” according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. The Journal reported on practices at Amazon that would seem to contradict testimony given by executives. It is this that the committee members want to look at closer.
Zillow Has Flipped its Home-Flipping Strategy
Zillow (ZG) has flipped on flipping. It is pausing its home-flipping strategy amid operational constraints. While Zillow’s computers can choose the houses, the company cannot find the labor to handle the renovations. Zillow said it is “beyond operational capacity in [its] Zillow Offers business.” Zillow Offers is its home-flipping business. The company is not buying any new homes and is working through a backlog of recent acquisitions. Critics say the company claims to have mastered algorithms to predict home prices but can’t master the human element of the equation. Zillow said it bought just over 3,800 homes in the second quarter and continues to process homes purchases under contract. That would indicate third-quarter numbers should be higher, even with the announced pause. The fourth quarter is when the change will start to be felt in the numbers. No word from Zillow in when it may resume purchases.

gibt es eine Bibliothek in Wien, die eine "größere" Auswahl an Comics/Graphic Novels anbietet, die man sich physisch ausleihen kann (idealerweise in Englisch)?
