2021.12.07 02:08 elytraman Is anybody else having major ping issues this season?
As the title states, ping has been a nightmare for me this season so far. Back in S8, I used to average 30-60, now, after CH3's launch, I average 77-290. Its basically unplayable as I cant move and cant shoot half the time. Sometimes it will go down to 30, but only for a few seconds before I cant move again. Is this happening to everyone or did Fortnite decide it wanted to screw me over in particular?

2021.12.07 02:08 notadoctornopenotme When should I be concerned about a minor wound that won’t stop bleeding
Throwaway bc this is a lot of personal info.
• Age: 22 • Sex: FTM - T levels jn range for a cis male but I have a functional uterus and ovaries • Height: 5’5” • Weight: ~200 lbs • Race: White • Duration of complaint: ~6 hours • Location: USA; wound is on left index finger • Any existing relevant medical issues: none? the medications below are for PTSD and gender dysphoria but those conditions aren’t related to the matter at hand • Current medications: 1 mg prazosin nightly for PTSD; 60 mg weekly testosterone cypionate for gender dysphoria
Chief complaint: A minor wound (roundish, roughly 1 cm in diameter) that won’t stop bleeding. It doesn’t seem that deep, but there was a lot of blood. Way more than I would’ve expected from a wound that size. Currently the fingertip feels cold and there’s a mild stinging pain at the wound site.
Longer explanation: Approximately 6 hours ago, I was peeling potatoes and sliced through the tip of my left index finger.
I ran the wound under tap water (I’m not sure that you’re supposed to do that; it was just like a weird instinct I had in the moment) and then grabbed a clean napkin and applied pressure for ~3 minutes.
After applying pressure, I tried to put on a bandaid and bled through it almost immediately. I just put a disposable glove over it and finished making dinner (partially because I was being lectured at/guilt tripped for not helping enough around the house in general). ~1.5 hours after the initial injury, I tried to apply pressure again with a different clean napkin and replaced the bandaid. I bled through that one in ~3 hours and am now on the third one.
I am taking prazosin for PTSD-related nightmares, and I have been told that it can lower blood pressure (and I think that is what is technically for?). Even before taking it, my bp tended to be on the low end of normal (according to my doctor). Just double-checked, my last measurement was 102/68.
I don’t really know what that means at all. I thought I heard something one time about blood pressure meds making it harder to stop bleeding?
My question is: at what point should I be concerned? How long are minor injuries like this supposed to bleed for? Is the blood pressure thing at all relevant?

2021.12.07 02:08 SarHavelock [PC] Super Mario fan game w/ Black Yoshi
My brother is trying to remember a mario fan game he played back in the mid to late 2000s.
The game has an alternate reality where you can save yourself from a death trap that you walked into earlier on in the game or in the past.
The black yoshi has the powers of all the other yoshi's combined.

2021.12.07 02:08 ChargingMyLaser Best cooling solution for use without external keyboard?
Hey everyone, I just got a Legion 5 Pro, and it's fantastic. I'm trying to pivot to a more minimal setup, and I'd like to use laptop's built-in keyboard and display with just an external mouse.
I see the benefit of a vented stand for cooling, but the angle makes a standalone keyboard a requirement. Has anyone found good solutions for getting some cooling benefit without wrecking the typing angle? For that matter, does elevating the laptop actually make a big difference?

2021.12.07 02:08 ScaredOfLife666 Should I be worried? (including TL;DR)
I've been staying in a townhouse owned by my university for this semester and I honestly feel like I may have rubbed my roommates the wrong way based off how we communicate with each other. If I meet any of them in public, they will walk by with a cold face. If I meet them in the kitchen or something I'll try to wave or say hi, even though I'm usually a socially anxious person, and they'll nod or give a really short answer if I attempt to start a conversation except for one dude on occasion. Even my classmates, who I meet for significantly less time on most days, speak more to me.
They were initially a bit more open to me in the beginning but that stopped fast. I moved in at the last minute since it was the only space available and all of the dorms were filled so I don't know if that has to do with anything. Maybe I took a space they wanted for someone else?
As far as my contributions, it's weird. I wasn't sure how they operated so I used to just buy stuff for myself but I eventually tried to be more interactive so I brought my Keurig machine that my parents had bought me to the kitchen and they seemed to like that along with me buying coffee. I sometimes replace the toilet paper and paper towels but they had tons so I didn't bother.
As for cleaning, the house is rarely cleaned honestly... One of the guys swept like once or twice and vacuumed once or twice but Idk about the other guys. I volunteered to do stuff but they told me that they were content doing it so I didn't bother. I eat out most of the time since I have a meal plan but I also reuse a bowl and cup I purchased at Walmart. I had my own mug but it has gone missing and I don't feel like asking them about it so I just use one of the mugs in the cabinets.
The one bathroom I share with another person hasn't been cleaned at all since the beginning of the semester. I'll admit that I am horrible at remembering to routinely complete chores especially with my ADHD but I wouldn't mind creating a schedule or something. I just don't want to make him feel like he needs to do anything since I don't do crap myself.
Anyway, am I overreacting? I suffer from social anxiety but I also know I have a lot of areas to improve in. Would it be worth it to talk to them? I don't actually care if they want to be friends with me or not since I have a solid friend group outside of the house. But I'd be bothered if they didn't like something about be being here but they all just decided to ignore my existence instead of expressing their issue.
TL;DR: My roommates barely talk to me and hardly respond when I attempt to socialize with them. Should I be worried?

2021.12.07 02:08 Sec_rityNeedsU The non-technical analogy/story I told my friend about a co-worker
I work in IT as an Information Security Automation Engineer. Sometimes it's difficult to explain things (stories, projects, what I do in general) to people who aren't in a smiliar field. I know I wouldn't understand the jargon of a lawyer, accountant, or marketing director. To make sense of my technical-nerdy thoughts and/or experiences I frequently create analogies surrounding the details which normally would never make sense to someone who wasn’t an IT automation engineer (Ex. My wife)
Here's one I told a friend of mine the other day about a co-worker of mine, Andrew (Not his real name). My friend knows Andrew and actually helped him get hired at my work, through me (Which I regret to this day).
Andrew showed an interest in programming and wanted to learn more about it. He was really enthusiastic about learning Python and said he was taking courses online, but wanted to start a project at work and needed guidance.
I mistakenly offered to include him on a project I had been putting off for a while. It was a simple program and would be perfect for a beginner. I know how hard it is to want to get better at software development, but not know where to start. This would give him a great intro to Python and would be a quick win for both of us.
Just to note: I have been a tutor in software development for over 3 years and have been very successful teaching beginners the basics of programming. Before then, I was a teachers assistant for Calculus in college. So before people go on at how I'm probably not a good teacher, I am pretty decent at explaining and teaching difficult/complex processes to people that don't understand them at face value.
In order to explain my experience with Andrew and for it to make sense to my friend, I came up with this analogy/story:
One day, Andrew had asked me how to bake a cake. He had always wanted to bake one himself. After all, cake is delicious and a there's nothing like eating a cake made from scratch.
I agreed to go over to Andrew's house and teach him how to bake a cake himself. I brought all of the ingredients he would need: Flour, Eggs, Sugar, etc.
I explained to him what the flour is used for, how to mix in all of the ingredients, how to make and layer the icing.
I showed him how long to put it in the oven and at what temperature.
Then... (Just go with me here, it's a Technology/Programming Analogy remember?)
I showed Andrew a wax model of a cake, to give him an idea of how it will look once it's finished baking. I explained to Andrew that this cake isn't real, but only a replica of a similar cake.
After showing him the process and answering all of his questions I said, "Alright Andrew, I think I've given you everything you need. I'm going to head home. Do your best at baking the cake and if you have any questions or run into any issues, just call me."
Well, a few days go by and I didn't hear from Andrew, so I went over to his house to see how he was doing.
Me: "Hey Andrew, how was baking the cake? Did it end up coming out okay? How did it taste?"
Andrew: "Well, I tried the cake you showed me and it didn't really taste that great... The blue icing you left was delicious though and I ended up eating all of it, so... I decided not to make the cake."
Andrew: "Oh, but I do have this idea I wanted to talk to you about so I get more icing to bake the cake. Do you think you could help me build a raft to cross the river behind my house so I can get to the grocery store quicker? I bet it would save me almost 20 seconds more than driving there which I think is a substantial amount of time saved. Then I can buy some more icing!"
Me: "Andrew, I told you the cake I showed you was made of WAX and wasn't real. It was just to give you an idea of what a cake was supposed to look like, not how it was supposed to taste."
Me: "Why would we spend hours making a raft to save 20 seconds of time? You could just walk to the store. That's not a river in your backyard, it's a creek. My 4 year old son could hop over it.
Me: "Also, I never brought over icing. I showed you how to make it from scratch, Andrew. You just downed a bottle of Dawn Liquid Dish Soap."
